Road safety is a big issue around the world: even a decreasing number of fatal road accidents cannot hide this, especially since it is probably caused artificially to a large extent. On the other hand, with regard to their effectiveness, systematically evaluated prevention programs in traffic safety tend to be the exception.

Accidents on the way to and from work cause traffic jams and increase costs, and therefore require targeted preventive measures. Safety training is an important tool to sensitize road users so that they can recognize traffic hazards quickly and thus avoid risks. Innovations are the lifeblood of our economy; the results of intensive research and development can lead to market-ready new products, processes and services.

There are numerous situations that cannot be trained in traditional driver training programs:

• A child or a deer suddenly runs across the street
• Fog and dangerous road conditions (hail, ...)
• A parked car suddenly pulls out of a parking space or a motorcyclist will overtake a car on a blind curve
• Reactionary time under the influence of alcohol or drugs
• Rescue organization drivers cannot practice driving through a rescue alley
• As well as numerous other scenarios that cannot be trained at the moment
  

But it is precisely these scenarios that are the unfortunate reality and this is exactly where our project intervenes.

What if you were driving your car in a driving safety center and dangerous scenarios were shown onto your mixed reality glasses (MR glasses) by means of holograms?

The decisive advantage of this new type of training is the visualization of dangers at real training locations.

Every instructor has the option of overlaying the exercise object (physical location) with holograms using a tablet. New dimensions of training will arise.

Our motivation is an active contribution to road safety, because accidents with injuries and fatalities can only be prevented through regular, systematic training in critical situations in road traffic. In order for such training to be carried out, inhibitions must be lowered, the training effort minimized and the training environment as realistic and familiar as possible.
